Last Night of the Proms - A Hit Again!

This event is now firmly established as one of Alton's many well-loved events and this year the Public Gardens were full to the brim.  The sun shone and people sat in massed ranks, bringing their own chairs, tables, food and drink so they could enjoy the music.  This event is run by Alton Town Council, working with a number of local musical organisations - Alton Concert Orchestra, Alton Community Choir and Alton Choral Society.

Our very own Martin Saban-Smith designed the programme, website (www.lnotp.co.uk) and was taking the photos, whilst Paul Leferve was compere for the evening.  This year's event was themed on the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, with appropriate singing and music, along with the essential Last Night of the Proms favourites for waving flags, singing and clapping.
