Alton's 5th annual celebration of local food and drink was blessed with good weather and crowds of more than 6,000 people.  The event was planned by Heather Andrews and was run on the day by our Secretary, Stephen Lewis.  Hampshire Farmers' Market reported a 40% increase in footfall over their normal markets and said they would be very happy to work with Alton Chamber of Commerce for the 2011 event.  The Alton Lions ran the Craft Fair in Cross & Pillory Lane and into the Market Square and at the top end of town on Crown Hill, there were further food stalls and the Mill Cottage Farm Experience animals.  The Curtis Museum arranged for a historic Thornycroft flatbed lorry to be parked by the Crown Hotel and they provided children's activities outside the museum.  Photographs and a longer article are in This is Alton online magazine - (www.thisisalton.co.uk).
